Boy I have a couple of days to catch up on here, huh? Sorry about that. Life is getting a bit more hectic right now on both a personal and professional level. Hang in there with me :)
I took Thursday off.
Friday I ran from home to the gym and back. All together I ran 4 miles. I like to spend as much time as possible with Finn. Especially on the days I work 10 hours in the office. I had not run in the morning that Friday. It ended up that I didn't get to the gym until after Finn went to bed...somewhere around 9pm. That's ok though. I got to watch the continuation of a two parter of the show "Medium" while I was running on the treadmill for the gym portion of my workout.
Saturday I was working. I have been so tired lately all the time. I decided to sleep in as much as possible before going to work instead of running in the morning. After I got done with work Caleb and Finn were still in North Manchester visiting Grandma and Grandpa Brauneller. I decided to do a fast pace run at a shorter distance. This pace was much faster than my normal race/long run pace. I think it was extremely beneficial. I surprised myself with how well I did. I ran 3 miles in 25 minutes...that's less than a 8 1/2 minute mile! For me, that's pretty damn good.
Sunday I finally got the chance to follow through on running downtown to Lawton Park from home and met Caleb, Finn and Atticus. I love running new places. It helps keep things interesting. I really tried to push myself towards the middle and end of the run. It felt so good. The weather was perfect on Sunday. Partially sunny and cool, but not cold and not too windy. Love it. I ran 5 miles in 51 minutes. Not too bad.
In the past I always thought of myself as a non-competitive, super laid back person. And in some ways I am pretty laid back. But what I have come to discover and accept recently is that I am very goal driven and competitive. Particularly when it comes to running. I think that's why it is so important for me to participate in running races. I constantly have a goal to work towards. This has made me a happier person overall. It is what is so great about running for me, besides the physical attributes. I would have never learned of these qualities about myself had I not started running. For this I will be forever greatful. Even if it is a quality you don't initially embrace, it is always better to truly know yourself on a deeper level :)
Today is a day off of running. I did ride my bike to and back from work and also for lunch the same.
